F.Y.I Testing and Begging for Snacks

Dear Parents,
I would be most appreciative if you would volunteer to send in a snack for next week during testing. So many students forget to bring a snack, and taking a test on an empty stomach is detrimental. Basic needs such as a full belly and plenty of rest are the most important rudimentary elements of success.
Examples for snack may include, but is not limited to the following,
Granola bars, cereal, crackers, chips, apples, oranges, cheese sticks, pepperoni, beef jerky, carrots, celery, fruit snacks, bananas, water bottles, cheese balls, cookies, fruit juice boxes, Capri Sun.
(I do have limited space in my mini-fridge. )
J Thank you in advance for your help.
Please make sure your child gets at least 9 hours of sleep and a hearty breakfast every day next school week. ***I would go ahead and send them with a snack just in case.
Also, please note that most of our testing begins by 8:30 and ends by 12:00. It is important that your child is on time, and does not leave before noon.

Schedule and Musts

If you do not have your basic needs met, you will not do as well on the test. It is time to "sharpen the saw".
  1.  Get at least 9 hours of sleep each night. Go to bed early. If you are sleepy, you can't concentrate.
  2. Eat a healthy filling breakfast. Hungry rumbling bellies distract from your test and your best. Bring a snack every day next week. No Candy Allowed!
  3. Play and exercise after school. Let your brain have a rest. You will not have homework, so have fun each night, and be ready to work in the morning.

Our testing time will be limited to mornings. In the afternoon we will review for the test the next day. Tests are subject to change.

Expectations of the Revolutionary War Museum
1.       Student must research their chosen person and write down the following; interesting facts, their part in the war, and how they died or their role after the war if they survived.
2.       Students may choose a “talking wax figure” (standing), a cut out from a tri-fold, or actual picture frame…No matter what students choose they will be talking as if you were the person displayed.  Note to parents, we have talked about these choices in class.
3.       No matter the exhibit chosen, students must included the following in their ‘exhibit”
·         Title of your exhibit clearly visible
·         The name of their person clearly visible with birth and death under the name
·         A “push here for audio button” that visitors will press, to hear students speak.
·         7-10 Interesting facts about their person. Student may speak some of these facts but they also need to be posted in the display.
·         An interactive activity related to their person that the visitors may do… (example decoding)
·         Pictures relating to the person chosen
·         You are not required to have dress up materials, but it is recommended especially if you are a standing “wax statue”.

Google Earth Story

https://support.google.com/earth/answer/148174?hl=en

Okay! This is JUST for EXTRA CREDIT in Social Studies. You are not required to do it. You will need your parents to sign up for a google account, so you can use it on google earth.

The site above gives information on how to create a tour with google earth. The assignment is to use the information and google earth to tell the story, and major events of the American Revolution from the signing of the Declaration of Independence to the Treaty of Paris.
The timeline we are doing in class will help you with major events, but the point is to include the places as well as pictures that represent the events on your tour. If it is easier for you, you can tell the events. You will present your work in class.

Use this site for the tour.
